THE Community College
STORY

The community college is largely a phenomenon of twentieth-century American higher education. Great challenges faced the United States in the early 20th century, including global economic competition. National and local leaders realised that a more skilled workforce was key to the country’s continued economic strength—a need that called for a dramatic increase in college attendance— This gave birth to the community colleges in the U.S.
Today Community colleges play a significant role in meeting immediate and short-cycle needs of the workforce with a wide range of courses and programs. Community colleges expanded the scope of higher-education offerings by adding to the curriculum practical and pragmatic courses of study that meet the educational needs of an advanced, complex, and technological society.
Some of the Corporations that work with community colleges in different states are: Capital One, Exelon, EY, and JPMorgan Chase. Northrop Grumman, UPS, Luminant and General Electric, IBM, Amazon, Tesla, Deloitte, Toyota, BlackRock, Facebook, Microsoft, Morgan Stanley, PwC, Goldman Sachs, Accenture, Google, Apple, Citigroup, Instagram, AlphaSights, and many more.
